LIEUTENANT

Lieutenant specializes to ensure spatially spread patrols are enforced throughout the state. A Lieutenant is the top rank in the Blaine County Sheriff Office's Supervisor team, responsible for watching and looking after the newly promoted Supervisors and Training Staff to ensure they are receiving the correct training and guidance to help them develop into natural leaders. In the event that a member of the Administration Staff or Senior Staff is not available, information regarding patrol and promotions may be passed down to officers of this rank.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervisor in charge of the organization and spatial spread of units into squads and assigning designated patrol areas.

  • Oversee police reports submitted for all departments

  • Assist in promotion recommendations for other deputies

  • Interview and assist in onboarding new deputies

  • Act as direct supervisor of Sergeants

SERGEANT

Shift supervisor, who does patrol supervision to direct and manage deputies in the field. In addition to their own work, they will do their own patrols and assist in FTO duties. Officers of this rank are also able to now direct a subdivision if the opportunity becomes available.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervisors of patrolling deputies

  • Training lead

  • Final ridealongs for probationary officers with a higher ups permission

  • Managing contentious scenes

  • Ensuring proper arrest procedures and scene control is implemented in the field

  • Ensuring proper DOJ procedures are followed during the booking and processing process

  • Go over and sign off on records in the CAD

  • Equipment checks on deputies

  • Final ridealong for probationary officers
