๐Ÿš”4.3 - Vehicle Use Policy & Structure

  • Cadet & Probationary Deputy Cadets are not allowed to drive and will only ride with designated Field Training Officers unless ordered otherwise.

  • Deputy Deputies may only drive (VEHICLES) Official Livery (Marked BCSO) and (WHITE) color of vehicle must be used. Deputies are required to have a lightbar attached to the vehicle. Supervisor livery is only to be applied to vehicles pertaining to Sergeants+ Supervisors are allowed to use black in color liveries for their patrol vehicles. Sgt+ have a choice between black/silver and no light bar but mandatory visor light is required if there is no light bar. Cadet to CPL, make sure that you remember light-bar is mandatory every other extra is optional. Detectives must use unmarked vehicles as assigned to them by their commanding detective. Lieutenants and Captains are permitted to drive the undercover vehicles on patrol. (You should also not be changing plates or window tint without High Commands permission).

  • Supervisor Supervisors may only drive (VEHICLES)

    Supervisors are required to have a supervisor livery applied to their vehicle.

  • BCSO Administration has full authority and discretion to assign vehicles to any employee/rank. Unmarked vehicles may be used by BCSO Administration & Sub Divisions that allow operation.

  • Ride Along policy You must have approval by command before having any civilian in your vehicle. You also must ensure they are familiar with our policies and procedures before you continue with the ride along. No personal weapons or recording devices from the civilian are allowed. They must be searched prior to the ride along. You are allowed to issue one civilian body armor.
